“Education is the great engine of personal development” - Nelson Mandela
Education is the key to end so many struggles facing the Ugandan orphans in our program!.In fact education can be the difference between life and death! There are numerous studies that indicate increasing the length of time a child remains in school leads to a reduction in HIV occurrences. A lack of education ultimately leads to decreased ability to earn a living wage, early marriage, larger families and life choices that can increase the chance of domestic abuse, contraction of HIV and early death.
When you donate to AHCM, you are supporting a child’s chance at a better life
The Education for all program has achieved the following,
1. Increased enrollment of children into school
A total of 128 (of which 68 were females) children have been able to access education through the program
Pre- primary: 9 males and 4 Females
Primary: 28 males and 26 Females
Secondary: 17 males and 23 Females
Vocational: 6 Males and 13 Females
University: 0 Male and 2 Females
2. Ability to send students to University
Females are especially vulnerable because a family is more likely to educate the boys. When girls attend school, the likelihood that they get married or pregnant at young ages declines. However, in Sub-Saharan Africa, 80% of young women have not completed secondary education and a third cannot read. (UNICEF (2012) & Isquo, Progress for children: A report card on adolescents’)
Read a story below from one of the project beneficiaries
Beneficiary A narrates: Attending university is the best thing that has ever happened to me. It’s’ a dream come true! I have a stepping stone to achieving my dream of creating change in my life and my country. Vulnerability is the worst thing one can experience; it is associated with lots of sorrows and pain. I feel very lucky to have the chance of education. Despite the tough situation we went through as a family like my father’s death and my mother’s sickness which always worried me because she was they were the ones providing my school fees and other needs. HIV/AIDS had robbed my future once it came into our family But I am grateful to God that He is always there for each one of us. If it wasn’t the opportunity God opened for me at Another Hope Children’s Ministries (AHCM), I am sure I would have been part of the statistic of either Adolescent mother or early marriages who knows may be Having HIV/AIDS or dead by now. Because of the education sponsorship at AHCM I am happy to say that by the end of this year I will have finished my 3-year Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education and I am going to become a professional teacher
It’s a blessing to have someone who doesn’t know you to pick you up and care for you like their own. There are no words I can use to express my heartfelt gratitude, but what I want you to know is that I am so thankful for everything that you have done for me.
