Education For All In Uganda

Meet Beneficiary A, a resilient orphan (currently both parents died of HIV/AIDS and she too was born with the disease) who has embraced the power of education and skill development to carve a brighter future for herself. Her story with Another Hope Children’s Ministries (AHCM) is a testament to the transformative impact of compassion and dedication.

Beneficiary A's path took a drastic turn when her father, the family's primary provider, suffered a life-changing motorbike accident, leaving him unable to support his children. Recognizing the dire situation, AHCM stepped in to provide a lifeline for Beneficiary A and her siblings, who were not only lacking access to education but also struggling to secure their basic necessities.

Starting her educational journey in 2019, Beneficiary A encountered the challenge of school closures due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Yet, amidst adversity, she discovered a newfound determination to create a better life for herself. This determination led her to pursue vocational training, specifically her dream of becoming a skilled hairstylist.

In 2021, Beneficiary A's dream found its wings as she enrolled in the prestigious Cogswell School of Beauty, Art, and Design. With a burning desire to excel in the art of hairstyling, she embarked on her journey of skill acquisition. Through her dedication and hard work, she honed her abilities and emerged as a versatile hairstylist with an impressive range of skills.

Beneficiary A's vision goes beyond just personal success – she aspires to open her own salon, enhancing the lives of others by making them look and feel beautiful. Her dream extends to educating others about proper hair care, spreading confidence and knowledge in equal measure. She acknowledges that this transformational journey would not have been possible without the unwavering support and belief of AHCM and her sponsors.

As she prepares for her graduation in November 2023, with a junior certificate in hairdressing and cosmetology, Beneficiary A is already paying her journey forward. Her exceptional skills have positioned her as a mentor to fellow students at Cogswell School of Beauty, Art, and Design, embodying the spirit of growth and empowerment.

Children leave home for school as early as seven in the morning and get back home at six in the evening which means that they spend their whole day at school. According to the Ugandan education act 2008, the state calls upon guardians of children to take the responsibility of making sure that their children have meals at school, data shows that 34% of the primary children and 45% of the secondary students are the only ones who get meals at school.

In the project of “Education For All in Uganda” we make sure that when children go to school they also have meals in the time that they are in the school environment and this has helped to improve the school performance of the children and students.

Nicholas is in primary five at Living Hope Primary School and he says that “it is good for us to get meals at school because when we get meals at school we are able to get the energy of going to attend classes and also keep ourselves healthy when we are at school.”

Food has been an essential component in the education of the children as the provision of meals to the school going children is very important in their academic journey in that the meals will help to improve the concentration of students in class, reduce absenteeism, increase class involvement, reduce on the cases of children reaching school late and reduce the school dropout rate. The studies have it that school going children who have meals at school happen to get a better performance in school.

Your contribution towards the children of Another Hope Children Ministries has been used to make sure that children not only go to school but also have meals when they are at school which in return has greatly improved their development in the aspects of wellbeing and better academic performance.
