Every child has a right to education and acquiring education is one of the most powerful weapons in fighting poverty. Getting education may require making tremendous sacrifices by the guardians and the child which may include: prolonged separation from family and loss of culture, foregoing a luxurious life to meet education costs and many others. However, many children don’t have a chance to enjoy their right to education for so many reasons like poverty in the family, family break-ups and many other reasons. Looking at these factors Another Hope Children’s Ministries has always availed sponsorship opportunities to ensure that vulnerable children enjoy the right to education and this has been possible with support from you our friends. In 2019, we supported 119 children in education at different levels which include: Kindergarten, Primary, Secondary, Vocational, and University. Among the children supported were some who were concluding different levels like primary level, Ordinary level, and Advanced level and this was a great achievement.
One of the beneficiaries narrates.
The beneficiary is a nineteen-year-old boy and the fifth born of seven children. He started school at her Aunt’s school in kindergarten but his parents got misunderstandings with his aunt and he couldn’t stay in that school. His parents used to lay bricks to raise his school fees but because they were many children, the money wasn’t enough. He was taken to a government-aided school where they only needed school requirements. His parents also separated and he remained with his siblings, with less hope, struggling and we prayed to God to avail opportunities for us to study. Then Another Hope Children’s Ministries came in and his hope was restored. He says that he was given a chance to enjoy his right to education by Another Hope Children’s Ministries and he is so happy that he concluded high school and he can’t wait to join University. He hopes for the best out of his last concluded National Examinations and his looking forward to doing a business course because his dream is to become a known businessman and consultant. He is proud that he has acquired some skills in art and craft which can help him as well in the line of business. He continues to thank God for Another Hope Children’s Ministries and all its partners who see that children like him get a chance to study.

Vocational education programs have made a real difference in the lives of many young people nationwide. Self-confidence and leadership skills have been built in the lives of young people and it has given an opportunity to the students to utilize their unique gifts and talents. Vocational education prepares learners for creating their own jobs and this helps to reduce the number of job seekers. Many vocational schools have been opened up with very high school dues and this makes it inaccessible for many less privileged youths in different parts of the country who would like to acquire vocational skills. In the year 2019, Another Hope Children’s Ministries with the support from our donors had twelve youth both males and females enrolled at Cogswell School of Beauty Art and Design to acquire vocational education. With that support, the school dues of these youth for the past two terms have been fully met and the youth have learned a lot in their different fields that they didn’t know before joining. Some of these youth had dropped out of school because their guardians didn’t have resources to support them.
Beneficiary A
Beneficiary A is a female student at Cogswell School of Beauty Art and Design pursuing a certificate in Early Childhood Development aged 20. She lost her parents at the age of 10 and the sister took up the responsibility of paying her school fees up to 2017 when she finished the Ordinary level. At that point, the beneficiary had lost hope of becoming a teacher and she got a job at a restaurant to support her family members where she worked for the whole year of 2018. This year she was asked by the Executive Director if she still wanted to study and she agreed she was enrolled for vocational training. Now she is happy and her hopes of becoming a teacher were once again restored. She extends her appreciation towards Another Hope Children’s Ministries for the support and dream come true.

The education system in Uganda has a structure of 7 years in primary, six years of secondary education divided into four of ordinary “O’’ level and two years of advanced “A’’ level and three to five years of post-secondary education. At the final year of every level candidate sit for National examinations to select who joins the next level. The government of Uganda recognizes education as a basic human right and provides free education to children at different levels. However, due to the large population, the government has not been in a position to support all the children who need to access education. Different bodies have come up to support the children that have not gotten the chance to access free education through the government and among these is Another Hope Children’s Ministries. Another Hope Children’s Ministries through its donors has managed to help a number of children at different levels of education and in the year 2019, eight of our children were registered to sit for their final exams. Two (2) in primary, Five (5) in O level and one (1) in A level.
One of the twins who is a beneficiary of Another Hope Children’s Ministries.
Our beneficiaries are twin sisters of fifteen years who have been under the support of Another Hope Children’s Ministries from 2009 to date. Another Hope Children’s Ministries took the responsibility of paying for the twin sisters in pre-primary after knowing of the family’s sad story. Both of the parents to the twins are HIV positive and their health condition couldn’t enable them to meet the family's needs because they were always sickly. They spent little time working, the rest of the time was spent in hospital and the little income was always spent on treatment. This created a big gap in meeting the family’s basic needs and the education of children inclusive. From the time Another Hope children’s Ministries took the responsibility of paying for these twins school fees when they were in pre-primary, their hope for a brighter future was restored and now they are in the final year of Ordinary Level (S.4) and they are happy. With your, Another Hope Children’s Ministries has been able to deliver services to many more children.
