Education For All In Uganda

Introduction: Intelligence plus character that is the goal of true education”- Martine Luther King Jr. Another Hope Children’s Ministries with the support of Education for all seeks to build the intelligence and character of many orphans and vulnerable children in different regions of the country through providing support to attain formal education. Many children in the 2018 adding up to one Hundred twenty one have been supported at different levels i.e.:- Nursery level, Primary level, secondary level, university level and vocational school. We had 15 of our students sitting for their final exams at different levels.

We had 15 of students sitting for their final exams The stories below are from two of the project beneficiaries who finished their final exams at O level and A level

Beneficiary A:  I joined Another Hope Children’s Ministries in 2006 when I was in Primary one and we joined with my brother Bagonza James after we had lost our father. We stayed with our mother who could not fully support us with all our basic needs due to her low earning. Another hope picked up the responsibility of taking care of me and my brother until today when I have finished my O level yet I had lost hope because our father was gone. I feel so happy and blessed for where and who I am today but all this has happened with the help of another Hope Children’s Ministries. My future plans are to become a software engineer and I would like to join a training school this year after our results are back. Because of the education support given at Another Hope Children’s Ministries, I have been able to gain confidence that I can achieve my dream. Words cannot express what I feel but I am so grateful.

Beneficiary B I sat for my senior six final examinations in 2018. Another Hope Children’s Ministries started providing me with education support when I was in Primary Four after I had lost my father. At that time, I was broken and worried on how my future will be but I thank God for Another Hope Children’s Ministries for supporting me until today. I sat for my final 6 years of High school examinations at Buddo Secondary School and am hoping for the best. My future plan is to do a course in business studies. I now believe I will be able to achieve my dreams through the sponsorship given by Another Hope Children’s Ministries. Thank you so much. 

Vocational Graduants:Two of our vocational students graduated in motor vehicle mechanics and are proud to have got the opportunity to attend school.

At Another Hope Children’s Ministries, the right to education entails an inclusive and holistic approach to education, as demonstrated in Article 26 of the UN Declaration of Human Rights: “Education shall be directed to the full development of the human personality and to the strengthening of respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms”. This year we are having 15 of our students sit for their final examination in the various levels of Education and one of those students is Julia (not really name) who is completing her first 4 years of High school.

As one of two young twins, Julia and her family struggled to survive in Uganda. There was little money for food and clothing, and no money for books or school supplies. But everything changed when Faith joined the family of Another Hope Children’s Ministries. Faith cherishes the relationship she has with her sponsors, and with their support, Julia is Julia s now currently in   Light College Katikamu   Secondary School where she is doing her final Uganda Certificate of Education exams and this is what she says about being in school.

“I feel very relieved when am at school because I always focus on what am doing in school than things at home. I know if I make myself think of home I will fortunately backslide .Attending school makes me feel my future because am working hard for it in order to be better and support myself but not to suffer. It’s a dream come true to study in a boarding school and it wouldn’t have been possible if Another Hope Children’s Ministries hadn’t believed in me.” Thank you so much Another Hope Children’s Ministries
