Dear generous supporter,
First of all, allow us to express our gratitude for your generous support for YUM’s educational projects in Cipanas. The Library and Early Childhood Learning Center have been very successful projects and we plan on continuing to run them for as long as we can, with your help of course!
The YUM Community Library in Cipanas not only provides books for children but also several varied educational activities such as Drawing and Coloring, Storytime, English club, Science Club, Computer club, Health and Nutrition program, etc. One of the children’s most favorite activities though is Arts and Crafts! They learn to make creative things from used and waste materials, such as boxes, bottles, newspapers, remains of fabric and others. This activity is held every Monday afternoons. Our librarian, Ms. Agnes, always has new ideas to make from these materials, as you will see in the photos below. Here are a few things the children have to say about our activities:
“I love to follow different activities each time I visit the YUM Library. My favorite activity is Computer Club. I am really interested in learning computer and in mastering it. My other favorite activity is Arts and Crafts. I have been able to make greeting cards, a key holder and many other creative things.” Sutisna, 6th grade
“There are so many interesting books to read in the YUM Library. The borrowing time here is longer than the library at my school. Therefore I often bring more than one book home. My favorite activity is Arts and Crafts. My friends and I come to the YUM Library regularly to read and do several activities. Last Monday we learned to make a brooch from the remains of flannel fabric. We can bring our works home and show it to our family.” Ayu, 6TH grade.
Thank you for your trust in us. If you can, please share this report with your friends and family so we can continue to accommodate children in our library, improving their literacy and encouraging them to be more creative and confident.
Kind regards,
The YUM Team
