Recently our library started a new program that aimed to improve the children’s interest in health and encourage their interest in food by learning how to cook. This cooking class at the beginning only ran once in a month, but since the number of students who wanted to join this program increased, we now do this program twice a month. These 20 children are divided into two different groups because of the limited cooking tools and space.

Part of the Health and Nutrition program introduces the children to healthy living not only from the practice of clean behavior but also from eating the right kind of food.  Mr. Ilham and Ms. Anggita, who teach the children, graduated from the best cooking schools in the area and now work as Assistant Chefs in a nearby hotel. They teach our children how to makes brownies, pancakes, vegetable soup etc.

“I love coming to the YUM Library and spending my spare time here. Before I only read books and participated in the Arts and Crafts activity. But since a couple of months ago, Ibu Agnes, the YUM Librarian, informed us about cooking classed and I registered myself straight away. I found out that cooking is very interesting and it has become my new hobby.” Nadia, 6th grade

Dear beloved GlobalGiving donors, thank you very much as always for your kind support to our project. YUM wishes to be able to continue giving various qualified educational activities for children like Nadia, who come from disadvantaged families in Cipanas, West Java, and your support is enabling this to happen.
