Ear Checkup Camp

2025 World Hearing Day Theme: “Changing Mindsets: Empower Yourself! Make Ear & Hearing Care a Reality for All!”

As part of the global initiative for World Hearing Day on March 3rd, 2025, a special ear health screening camp was conducted in Edappadi for women workers in spinning mills. This initiative was organized in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Hearing Forum, aiming to raise awareness about occupational hearing health and promote preventive care.

Ear Health Screening & Awareness Initiative

  • A government medical team conducted ear health screenings for 56 women workers to assess hearing conditions caused by workplace noise exposure.
  • 10 women were identified with hearing difficulties and were referred for further treatment at government hospitals.
  • Workers received guidance on protecting their hearing from occupational noise and were educated on preventive measures.

Extensive Awareness & Advocacy Efforts

  • 10 ear health awareness education camps were conducted between March 3rd and March 15th, 2025, reaching 780 women workers in the spinning mills.
  • A social media campaign on Facebook and WhatsApp was launched to extend awareness to the broader public about ear health and safety measures.
  • Advocacy efforts were initiated with government representatives, officials, and employers to implement corrective measures ensuring workplaces meet minimum safety standards for noise control and ear protection.

This initiative reinforces the importance of ear and hearing care for women in the textile sector, advocating for safe working environments and accessible healthcare for all.
