Mental health training to Children

After pandemic Covid 19, the target community children are mentally highly distributed. Some the children lost their parents or relatives. Parents lost works and income so they struggled to meet their family survival basic needs. they are landless and depending on daily work and income.During the pandemic days children were out school and left alone. So the children are very much affected mentally. So there was a need to address the mental health related activities frequently among the children and adolescents.
So RWDT organised one day training on mental health education in our resource center. About 40 children participated in this training. In this training Ms. Stepy Christoper participate as trainer and gave training on how to combat with emotions, depression, and stress. In particular, she gave inputs on how to ride the exam fear and school dropout issues.
Program outcomes:
40 children got training and keep in school without absent.
5 volunteer engaged the mental health education learnings in the children resource centers.
About 250 children from vulnerable families benefitted through village resource centers.

Leadership training for youth and community Leaders
In the month of June, the youths from vulnerable community were organized for three days leadership development camp. In this camp about 45 adolescent girls and community leaders participated. In this training, they were given inputs on skills required to lead the community such as organizing, communication, debates handling, and lobbying with local government for their individual entitlements and as well as community entitlements. They are implementing in their villages to get social security schemes for needy people as well as community entitlemnets. Also they were given details of Higher education institutions to support their village students to study the right courses.
Outputs:
45 youth and community leaders got enhanced skills to lead their community.
12 students got hgher education scholarship for continue the collegeeducation.
65 children were enrolled in nesrby schools. they were supported education materials.
3 Children resource centers were installed smart TV for online live classes.

Sewing machine operator course
After the pandemic period, the situation poses a serious public health risk particularly on economically poor and vulnerable communities in the rural parts of Salem District. The daily work and rescued poor women worker were highly struggled for manage their basic survival needs. RWDT supported free skill training for the women of vulnerable families. In the two month course, the women are taught sewing machine operating skills and stitching of domestic dresses. More than 50 women participated in this training and enhanced their income generating skills. After completion of the training, the women were supported to get employment nearby garments with good salaries. Some of the women were provided support to get sewing machines and start their self employments in their village it self.
Apart from this, 40 rescued bonded women got financial literacy training amd marketing training to maintain their day to day accounts. Also the women were supported revolving grant Rs.10000/- as seed capital to start their micro trade activities. Now they are getting regular income and ensured with financial sustainability.
