Socio economic condition of the rural women in the Salem district is highly affected due to COVID-19 consequences. Particularly, the women and adolescent girls of Arunthathiyar community those who are depending on daily wages are lost their livelihood income and basic survival needs. The young women and adolescent girls are highly vulnerable for forced bonded labor system.
To support these women and girls, the sewing machine operator course was conducted by our organization. In this training 50 women and young girls had an opportunity to learn tailoring skills, embroidery skills and fabric design skills. The course was given by two experienced trainers. After completion of the training course, the women were supported to start their own tailoring shops, get employment in garment sectors and other small businesses.
On behalf of beneficiary women, we show our gratitude to all supporters.
