During this Reporting period(April-June 2021), Nepal is highly affected from COVID-19 pandemic as the new variant and second wave extend in Nepal.Since then daily average COVID affected people ranges from 6000-9500 and death 150-300 n April-May 2021.So that Government lockdown the country till date.For the delivery of cookstove and its uses for safe and clean cooking,MRC Nepal mainly orient and suggestion provided by Virtual classes and meeting with Key person who deliver the technologies.COVID preventive measures such as social distancing,use of mask and sanitizer and avoid any kind of mass gathering.By following these preventive measures the organization also provided online training and capacity building measures  with technical backstopping on income generation activities such as vegetable production technologies to raise the income during this period.

 

The victims affected by Floods have long run impacts for improving their livelihood as they have been more affected by COVID-19 pandemic.The families were taking a bit relief from the effect of floods as they rebuilt their small houses and started to maintain their livelihood through migration to cities and wages labour in the village.Hardly,they came out from the shock of floods,The healing was gradually started from the shock but at the same time following the greater shock from COVID-10 pandemic,They lost their job and employment.They also lost the daily wages.So that they are in big problem of hand to mouth.

 

MRC Nepal team observed miserable situation in the village and suggested to start the work of agriculture in their small pieces of land with improved agricultural practices providing capacity building training of skill enhancements.Also,MRC Nepal provided some production inputs and distant support of technical backstopping of about 200 victim families.The organization also supported some portable cook stove of about 23 numbers.

 

 Along withthese,Heavy rains since 15 June 2021 in Nepal has caused flooding and landslides in many parts of Nepal.About 9 districts mainly hills are more affected where more than 4500 people have been displaced and some are still missing.The death toll recorded till date are 17.Still the monsoon is continuing and remain few days.The displaced people stay in school and tent who urgently need foods,medicine,temporory latrine,sanitation,water,tents and temporory houses.Rescue process is continuing by government but not enough. In these difficult situation,MRC Nepal move and visited to some of affected areas and involved for socio psycho counselling and motivation to victim families.Also supported foods,clean water and medicine to about 190 victim families in different locations.Fund raising effort is continuing to save the lives of victim families.The victim families are in acute and urgent need of foods,medicine,clean water and sanitation measures.
