During the Reporting period from December 2020 to till date(9th March 2021),still the people in Nepal are alert and so concious with COVID-19 pandemic. In our program district and areas people are still not freely moving and open from COVID-19.So that implementing organization MRC Nepal organize the virtual/distant meeting with the community beneficiaries of Inddor smoke affected families with community Leaders.In such meeting community people are aware of toxic forest tree and its fuel wood used in cooking in the kitchen generating toxic smoke affecting the women health in the areas for safety measures.Forest degradation must be reduced and conserve the environment through the use of improved cookstove for cooking.
The project beneficiaries not only provided the awareness message on safety measures but also provided distant technical backstopping support for livelihood improvement through promotion of agricultural income generation activities as a high value crop such as eco friendly vegetable production technologies,goat farming and flower productions technologies.Majority of the people in the areas have terminated their job and employment and returned back at home in the present context, because of COVID-19 pandemic and now fighting with hand to mouth and facing severe poverty.
The project with short packages address the opportunities of employment and income generation from the adoption of improved technologies of agriculture such as eco- friendly vegetable production as a high value crop and improved goat husbandry that will boost for production and productivity of land. Among introduction of high value crop covers improved production technologies, plant protection through domestic pesticides, skill enhancement capacity building trainings, technical back stopping support and Marketing linkage/services.
This GlobalGiving project support on capacity building skills enhancement training, technical backstopping support and materials and inputs support for production on contributory basis. Thus benficiaries are so happy and pleased of getting support from GLOBAL GIVING and MRC Nepal.About 160 house hold equivalent to 960 beneficiaries have been supported.They expect contineous support till 2 years.
