The Beauty of Diversity

Cross Word Puzle Competition

On June 10th, a large number of children were excited waiting at the YUM Library in Kalimantan. That was the date much waited by them: the day that would start our competitions divided in 5 categories: loud reading, storytelling, cross word puzzles, arts and crafts, and last but not least, writing a story. Those were the activities chosen for the celebration of the Creativity Day on June 14, when winners of each category and runner’s up would be unveiled and win beautiful prizes!

Indeed, the favourite event of the year for those kids whose only place to read novels, comics, fiction, etc. and develop their creativity is our Library, the only one in the area of Bukit Batu, Central Kalimantan.

The theme chosen this time for the Creativity Day was: The Beauty of Diversity which was reflected in all our competitions, so that children in Kalimantan may learn to live in harmony and accepting religions, cultures and ethnics and respecting each other’s differences.

Thanks to our donors, YUM initiated two years ago the implementation of two Creativity Days a year, an event of festivity to compensate efforts and encouraging children to come to our Library to read and join our programs which are aimed to deepen their knowledge and awaken their creativity.

Thank you GlobalGiving Donors for your continuous support to hundreds of children in Kalimantan and giving them the opportunity of imparting the good habit of reading, the base for a good education. Children in Kalimantan are confident they will continue having new books to read, new color pencils to draw, new documentaries to watch, their hopes much depend on your valuable help. Thank you.
