Support to Transition; Free GBV survivors, Kenya

This quarter, we welcomed new survivors into the shelter, providing them with a safe space to heal and begin their journey toward independence. We continue to support all survivors through holistic programs that include counseling and skill-building initiatives. Survivors actively participate in practical training such as beadwork, tailoring, baking, crocheting, and sustainable farming. These activities not only help them gain valuable skills but also boost their confidence as they prepare for life outside the shelter. 

The introduction of new survivors, combined with the ongoing support for those preparing to transition, underscores the undeniable impact of this project. Women who arrived at the shelter feeling hopeless are now gaining confidence, building resilience, and creating paths toward economic independence. The knowledge and skills they acquire here not only transform their lives but also create a ripple effect, benefiting their families and communities. 

We remain committed to the long-term goal of empowering 150 survivors, fostering resilience, and building a movement of women determined to make better lives for themselves and their families. Together, we can create lasting change and help these women reclaim their futures. 

As we transitioned the last group of 4 women, we gifted them with a journal for mental health. This is meant to help the women when they are out their in their journey to continue with their self healing and discovery through putting their thoughts and emotions down on a paper. Our staff has continued to keep in touch and follow up on their progress in school and also at their personal level. They have been using it for goal setting and daily and weekly reflections as they live beyond the shelter life. They were also taught on how to use the journal for gratitude journaling.
