Amid the spike in the number of coronavirus cases, a district-level COVID 19 awareness campaign was conducted in collaboration with our SPARSH Mobile Medical Units covering 160 villages.
As a part of this campaign, our units reached out to every family, house to house, person to person in the districts of Osmanabad and Latur sensitizing the people through IEC materials, banners, loudspeakers, counseling on the precautionary measures of COVID 19 like hygiene, hand washing techniques, etc.
Phase one of the campaign which included screening along with a survey was conducted to collect the health data of all families and trace suspected patients and individuals suffering from other ailments like chronic diseases, hypertension, breathlessness. The necessary COVID test was conducted immediately to detect the COVID infection followed by timely medical treatment for the positive patients.
This campaign helped in clearing the doubts and bringing in a better clear understanding of the infection among the people ensuring proper implementation of the precautions. The increased COVID-19 testings’ helped to trace and keep a track of the identified and suspected patients at the first stage of the infection itself, thus providing them with immediate and timely treatment.
Going forward, the second phase of the campaign would be to first vaccinate the frontline health teams followed by the identified, traced suspected patients and the individual suffering from other chronic ailments like hypertension, breathlessness, etc.
All the villagers were thankful to SPARSH hospital, the district authorities and all our well-wishers for this much-needed initiative of ‘My Family, My Responsibility’ as this has helped to curb the level of infection in the districts due to the precautions and the responsibility taken by every family member in the villages.
