Over the past three years, with the improvised and strengthened facilities, SPARSH Rural Hospital has benefitted many patients with special focus on the ANC / PNC mothers.
In this unprecedented COVID 19 pandemic, as the nation struggles to tackle the increasing number of COVID 19 cases, the majority of the public and private hospitals have converted to fully COVID 19 treatment hospitals. Also, many doctors shut their clinics fearing the contraction of the virus. The added suspension of all public transport, cutting off access to all healthcare services to the people creating an acute need for medical care and support to the patients in need.
The acute need for medical care in this COVID pandemic situation where most hospital services were closed to all pregnant patients and the general population in the vicinity, our SPARSH hospital has stood up as warrior & fighter providing 24 hours of essential services to the surrounding villages. During this time SPARSH has witnessed an increasing flow of patients, especially the post-natal care ward wherein 312 deliveries were conducted in April 2020 and May 2020 (numbers increased by 55 percent) exceeding our bed capacity. Thus 5-6 beds were added on the premise to address the need.
With the main challenges faced with patients Patients coming from COVID hotspot areas however, all precautions being taken by sanitization of the premise and set up of full-body sanitization system at entry. A Separate OPD for COVID-19 symptom and an isolation ward for testing initiated away from the main building. All expecting mothers with a travel history of 14 days compulsorily being tested for COVID.
In such a critical scenario, SPARSH hospital has been a lifesaving bridge between the villages and tertiary hospital services, catering to the needs of rural patients of India. SPARSH Rural hospital is not designated as COVID-19 center but is always prepared for unforeseen cases and situations.
We appeal our well-wishers to support in fighting this pandemic and join us in containing the virus….
