Sex Trafficking in the News
By Daniel Carolan | Development Associate
3 Generations has been documenting stories of sex trafficking for over 10 years. We have and will continue to provide a vital platform for victims and survivors of sex trafficking to talk about the devastating consequences of this human rights abuse.
In recent news, ABC 6 reported the story of a human trafficking survivor from Columbus, Ohio. The Columbus attorney is alleging that “major hotel chains know or should know about sex trafficking happening on their properties” (ABC 6) and he’s taking action by filing several lawsuits in federal court against them.
Human trafficking has become prevelant in Central Ohio and many of the human trafficking tips recieved by the Trafficking Task Force have lead them to hotels in the area. The frequency in which hotels are used for human trafficking suggests that the staff and managers of these hotels must take stronger action against any activity they suspect to be human trafficking related.
We at 3 Generations will continue to advocate for survivors, hear their stories, and demand change. For more information about this issue and others please visit our website.

Students & Community Members Discuss "Tricked"
By Daniel Carolan | Development Associate
3 Generations has been documenting stories about victims of sex trafficking since 2010. Over the past twelve years, we have created over twenty videos, three award-winning short films, and the feature documentary:Tricked. It is our mission to provide a vital platform for victims of sex trafficking to tell their stories.
We were honored to be invited to SUNY Potsdam with Saint Lawrence County Safe Harbour to honor National Crime Victims Awareness Week in April. Founder and creative director Jane Wells hosted a screening of Tricked, which was followed by a thoughtful and intimate discussion with students and community members.
The discussion revealed interesting and upsetting details about trafficking in Upstate New York, and we are committed to telling the stories of survivors. Your gifts allow us to have these conversations, hear these stories, and spark change.
To stay up to date on our work, we encourage you to visit our website or follow our Instagram page.

Over the past twelve years, we have created more than twenty videos, three award-winning short films, and the feature documentary Tricked. We have some updates to share about our critical work. The Saint Lawrence County Safe Harbour and SUNY Potsdam are hosting a screening of our feature documentary Tricked on April 25 to commemorate National Crime Victims Awareness Week. It will be followed by a discussion with our Founder and the Director/Producer of the film Jane Wells.
We are also sponsoring our 2nd Annual Youth Video Contest this spring. We are asking aspiring young filmmakers to use Tricked as inspiration for their own short film that answers the prompt “Why document the truth?”. Tricked and the awareness campaign that we ran alongside it helped establish sex trafficking as a global human rights abuse. We are encouraging young people between the ages of 16-26 to watch the film and use it to inspire their documentation of human rights abuses.
