Hello everyone
Our goal of building a first-class biological research center in the Bolivian Amazon is slowly coming to fruition. We continue to make consistent and significant progress; despite numerous challenges.
We say "baby steps" as building is not easy in this part of the world. This year the rainy season has been especially unforgiving, creating additional challenges to meet our goals: the road conditions, mosquitoes and lack of accessible materials has slowed our progress. Nonetheless, we continue to make advancements and take the necessary baby-steps to build the physical and intellectual infrastructure required to oversee a successful research station.
We say intellectual infrastructure as we are not only building the physical space but also the intellectual container to host our research. We are building networks, while also conducting outreach to attract qualified researchers. We are also building awareness - awareness of the land, its inhabitants, its diversity, its threats - everything that makes the Aquicuana Reserve so important to protect and preserve.
We set a goal to construct 3 additional cabins to host researchers and volunteers this year. We also continue to evaluate options to run the electricity to the station. We will continue our slow march, as every step is one closer to our ultimate goal: To increase the protections, size and scope of the Aquicuana Reserve. With your continued support, we will realize this ultimate goal together.
