Psychoeducation among community people
Psychoeducation among community people

KOSHISH has been providing emergency mental health and psychosocial support to those women living with mental health issues and are prone to violence. So far as this campaign started, KOSHISH supported 11 women living with mental health issues from Sindhuli, Kavre, Sindhupalchowk and Udayapur districts of Nepal. Those women were brought to KOSHISH's Transit Home to provide specialized mental health treatment and psychological support. These cases were informed to KOSHISH by local government bodies and community people and requested for support. All of those women were ignored by their family members and they did not porvided proper care and treatment as 3 of them were in locked up condition.

In the Transit Home, they were supported to engage in recreational therapeutic activities and provided counseling. Seven out of the total women, recovered from mental health issues after treatment. Our Social Workers visited with their family members, provided psychoeducation and made fruitful environment to live them with dignity in their own community. 7 women who recovered their mental health, were reintegrated back to their family. Four women are in the recovery phase at Transit Home.

There are many women who are locked, chained and abandoned in the streets due to having mental health problem and faced violence, and they are subjected to humanrights violation. KOSHISH would like to appeal you to join your hands to support for the cause.
