Fresh Spirit Wellness for Women, Inc. is committed to providing crisis intervention services to individuals and families affected by domestic violence, sexual violence, and sex trafficking. Although the pandemic exacerbated many victims/survivors’ situations, post pandemic challenges are very much present and greatly affecting the healing process. In the wake of federal grant funded budget cuts, Fresh Spirit has increased efforts to expand funding opportunities. Fresh Spirit sincerely thanks you for your support during the Little by Little campaign. With your continued support Fresh Spirit has been able to assist victims of domestic violence, sexual violence, and sex trafficking as they transition from victim to survivor to overcomer.
With your support the number of clients Fresh Spirit provided crisis intervention services during this quarter is as follows: Unduplicated clients receiving crisis counseling and therapy 62, number of individual counseling hours 208, number of support group participants 82, and number of clients receiving legal advocate services 15.
In Fresh Spirit’s effort to enhance and equip our clients in their healing process, our agency instituted “Next Level”, a series of support groups to empower and educate our clients. Facilitated by trauma coaches, life coaches, business, and financial experts, Fresh Spirit offered our clients practical solutions to implement in achieving their personal and professional goals.
Some of the “Next Level” topics presented are as follows:
The self-care practice of “Mindfulness” which teaches individuals to be aware of and take control of their emotions and subsequently their responses to any given situation. By doing so, an individual has the option of not surrendering their power of response to another.
The fortifying practice of “Setting Boundaries” which teaches individuals the “Value of Saying No” in intimate partner relationships, with family members, in one’s work environment and any other encounter that has the potential to infringe upon a person’s abstract or tangible space.
“Resolving Conflict with Effective Communication” is another series topic presented which focuses on equipping individuals with the ability to express themselves effectively during situations of contention therefore alleviating the potential for escalation.
These topics and many more are carefully selected by our FSWW Team in efforts to provide our clients with the tools needed to help them achieve, maintain, and preserve a healthy living environment for themselves and their children.
Your ongoing support has been integral in making these services possible. Due to the sensitive nature of the support group services provided and the safety of our clients, photos are limited due to confidentiality.
