Fresh Spirit Wellness for Women, Team salute our wonderful Clients and we are so proud of your growth!! 

Fresh Spirit continues to provide counseling and supportive services, including case management, legal advocacy, and support groups for victims and survivors of domestic violence. We successfully served 96 unduplicated clients this quarter, providing 405 services. Highlights of this quarter include 30 support groups with 232 attendees (this number includes attendees from both female and male support groups). We also served 75 counseling clients to whom we provided 337 counseling hours of which 27 counseling/therapy clients received 121 services and 48 crisis counseling clients with 216 services.

What better way to share our success than by SURVIVOR'S TESTIMONIES;

Testimony 1) I can remember the first time I walked into Fresh Spirit. I was in a very bad place not knowing how I was going to move forward and take the next step. I was afraid of losing a marriage that meant me no good and that was tearing my life apart. I was a crying mess not knowing at the time the blessing that God had in store for me through Fresh Spirit. Fresh Spirit has helped me in so many ways. I received exactly what I needed to be able to walk away from my dysfunctional abusive relationship with the tools and guidance to set boundaries that would help me not backtrack and make the same decisions about future relationships. After three years of receiving counseling I am now in graduate school getting ready to graduate with a Masters and have started my own business. I know that I would have not been able to move forward in such a way and heal the way I have without Dr. Conte and Fresh Spirit. 

Testimony 2) Where do I begin? 2020, what a year! For many, this has been a historic year. For me, this has indeed proven to be a historic year alright. After the many challenges and obstacles that my son and I faced, we have found a beacon of hope. It is because of what you do, that we can pick up and push on. With no family or friends (we are continents away), I thought my fate was sealed. Fresh Spirit has given us a totally fresh spirit, a new sense of belonging, a sense of hope. You have given us an amazing gift. You gave us compassion, love, and a sense of belonging. I cannot thank you enough for the amazing Christmas goodies that Adam received and how about that check for $1200! I was behind in rent, bills and was driving on an empty gas tank with the gas light on! I cannot thank you enough for helping us. I was in shock and in awe! Thank you so much for helping us out. I pray that God brings you joy, happiness, success, good health, peace and love in every way possible, as we head into the holiday season and into the new year. May year 2021 be the beginning of many wonderful blessings for you, Fresh Spirit and your vision and drive. Sending you virtual hugs of gratitude and blessings. Testimony 3) I am a survivor of long-term abuse in many forms. I had no love for myself and no confidence. I thought that I would never be able to leave the situation that I was in and to find the courage to be a strong mother to my children. I have been a client of Fresh Spirit for over 2 years now. I can now say that because of the services I was confident enough to get assistance in filing a protection order which has no expiration date, I was able to seek counseling for how to deal with the trauma in a healthy way, and case management which helped me find safe, stable housing for me and my children with free rent for an entire year. I am forever grateful for the encouragement, guidance, and counsel that I have received from Fresh Spirit. My life is forever changed for the better and I am forever grateful. 

Testimony 4) I just wanted to share my testimony and the Fresh Spirit experience. You Cassandra and all of the Fresh Spirit members have been very professional and understanding with me, I have been reaching out to many agencies regarding my matter and everyone is closing doors on me. The moment I reached out to Fresh Spirit I felt very welcomed and comfortable in speaking with the staff members. Everyone at Fresh Spirit is always concerned with the victim's present status, and the program is doing everything to reach my needs. I am amazed by how this program listens to male victims that are going through certain circumstances, I feel safe just going through the Fresh Spirit process. I give the organization an A+, To all male victims in Houston, our breakthrough has come. Thank you and God bless
