Domestic violence affects all walks of life and if a woman does not need a shelter, she is less likely to know she can receive assistance such as counseling, legal or financial services to leave her batterer. Unfortunately, most people do not know that these services exist outside of a shelter.
With only 2 counselors, 1 legal advocate, 1 case manager, 1 program manager, 1 grant manager, and 2 counseling interns. Fresh Spirit continues to bridge the gap between violence and freedom for domestic violence victims and survivors by offering counseling, supportive services, and overnight accommodations and supplies when needed. Your gifts allowed us to accomplish these goals in a few months;

We could not do this without your support. Unfortunately the only pictures you usually see are victims when violent acts have taken their life. Dear Fresh Spirit,
Where do I begin? 2020, what a year! For many, this has been a historic year. For me, this has indeed proven to be a historic year alright.
After the many challenges and obstacles that my son and I faced, we have found a beacon of hope. It is because of what you do, that we can pick up and push on. With no family or friends (we are continents away), I thought my fate was sealed. Fresh Spirit has given us a totally fresh spirit, a new sense of belonging, a sense of hope. You have given us an amazing gift. You gave us compassion, love, and a sense of belonging.
I cannot thank you enough for the amazing Christmas goodies that Adam received and how about that check for $1200! I was behind in rent, bills and was driving on an empty gas tank with the gas light on! I cannot thank you enough, for helping us. I was in shock and in awe! Thank you so much for helping us out.
I pray that God brings you joy, happiness, success, good health, peace and love in every way possible, as we head into the holiday season and into the new year. May year 2021 be the beginning of many wonderful blessings for you, Fresh Spirit and your vision and drive.

Dear Fresh Spirit,
I am a survivor of long-term abuse in many forms. I had no love for myself and no confidence. I thought that I would never be able to leave the situation that I was in and to find the courage to be a strong mother to my children. I have been a client of Fresh Spirit for over 2 years now. I can now say that because of the services I was confident enough to get assistance in filing a protection order which has no expiration date, I was able to seek counseling for how to deal with the trauma in a healthy way, and case management which helped me find safe, stable housing for me and my children with free rent for an entire year. I am forever grateful for the encouragement, guidance, and counsel that I have received from Fresh Spirit. My life is forever changed for the better and I am forever grateful.
