Our Fellows on the Move!

By Constance Kane | Executive Director

Dear Friends of Empowered to Educate,

Our Fellows are going from strength to strength! Your support is making this happen! The long awaited microgrants have been distributed…and here is what’s happening. Fellows are spreading the word of girls’ equality in so many ways.

Fatimah has been broadcasting on community radio station Raford Fm 107.5.  Above she zooms to work where she interviews a recipient of the National Best Teacher Award during the International Day of the Girl Child celebration. They raised awareness of the challenges facing girls in gender equity and motivated mothers, teachers and society to be actively engaged.

Rose continues to work with children of street porters in the Medina market of Accra through her early education program Kaya Child Care. She has added an urban garden which helps feed the 50 children in the program every day. Pictured above is Rose in the garden and a classroom of students eagerly engaged with their teacher after a nutritious meal.

Meanwhile, Jennifer just completed her university degree in political science and she still made time to promote inclusion during recent International Cerebral Palsy Day. Above she celebrates the winner of the national typing challenge for children with cerebral palsy. The award recognizes the uniqueness of children with cerebral palsy and highlights their strengths. Jennifer also found the time participate on a panel honoring the International Day of the Girl Child.

From all corners of the Country, our Fellows are making change!

Thanks again, and kindest regards,

The Empowered to Educate Team
