Dear Friends of Empowered to Educate,
This has been another action-packed period for the Fellows. International Women’s Day was a big success as you can see from the headlines! Four of our Fellows participated in IWD, with the focus on Women’s Leadership, and their programs included support for teenaged mothers, academic achievement awards, and a joint health and wellness campaign.
Using proper health precautions, we were able to have our second in-person meeting with the Fellows. It is so gratifying to see how they are coming together as a group, and how much they have grown in their individual leadership journeys. We were thrilled to learn how highly they value the Fellowship with one Fellow saying: ‘I am very grateful for this family. My vision has been defined clearly….I’ve now constituted our board of people from diverse backgrounds I didn’t even think was possible….from lawyers to education specialists. They are all willing to support us and have started already.’ And from another: ‘I think the Fellowship program is like a wake-up call for me… I started my project in 2015 but it was like a charity… but going through this Fellowship I have come to realize that it’s not about you but it’s about the world seeing what you are doing and supporting you along the way….I feel part of a larger community.’
We are finally starting our micro-grants program! The Fellows are putting their strategic planning, goal setting, proposal writing and project management training into practice. We look forward to sharing specifics with you during our next update.
Meanwhile, do take a look at our one-year anniversary tribute to the Fellows in the link below. We hope it will make you smile!
We continue to be grateful for your interest and your support. Thank you!
Kind regards,
The Empowered to Educate Team
