Empowered to Educate has continued to grow and thrive despite Covid. Undaunted, the Fellows have maintained momentum with their grass roots programs and with their own professional leadership journeys, supported by you! our generous donors.
For example, the relationships between the Fellows and the Mentors continue to grow, as evidenced by this picture of Mentor Brigitte and Fellow Saudatu on the campaign trail during Brigitte’s recent campaign for President of Ghana.
Although the Fellows have not met in person since October due to the rise of Covid infections and deaths in Ghana, they have managed to meet via zoom every few weeks and have worked together to develop their own professional and personal goals and action plans. They also continue impressively on their leadership journeys, with one Fellow recently enrolled in a joint Master/PhD program on social policy in Ghana.
International Women’s Day is an important milestone for the Fellows and Empowered to Educate is supporting their local programs as they celebrate “Women’s Leadership”: the theme of the 2021 IWD. From supporting girls to say in school during Covid, to providing educational and nutritional support to very young children, our Fellows are doing their part to maintain momentum and keep positioned to move forward once Covid is behind us.
During this quarter we will launch our micro-grant initiative, when we will be providing direct support for their grass roots programs. Funds from the IWD Campaign will support the micro-grants.
We look forward to sharing progress with you on the Fellows and their grass roots programs, supported by the microgrants.
