Most of the schools we work with are in very remote areas and getting online is a constant challenge, particularly when it rains. We have tried to overcome this by setting up Raspberry Pi computers with downloaded curriculum content which works well.
We have a partnership with Pixl International who deliver teacher training and school leadership materials via a WhatsApp group and montly zoom calls, but participating is often hampered by poor connectivity.
Therefore we were delighted to be part of a pilot with the Basic Internet Foundation to bring low cost connections to 3 schools in Kagera and Kigoma, and that our rep Ngailla Alpha has agreed to be the Digital Friend assisting schools in Kagera.
We hope that when funds allow this scheme can be expanded to many other schools that we support so that teachers and students can finally get reliable and affordable connections to allow them to access online resources and communicate with schools from around the world.
Thank you for your support for this project.
Best wishes
Janet
