HOPE's Mothers' Clubs in Bangladesh

By Iftikher Mahmood | Iftikher Mahmood

Mothers are crucial in promoting health within their families and for educating others. HOPE therefore established HOPE Mother's Clubs to do just that; ensure the spread of health education and prosperity of their families in the community. HOPE has established 38 Mother's Clubs in varying rural regions The Clubs meet once a month, and discuss the vital subjects such as: Diarrhea, Malaria, HIV/AIDS, Acute Respiratory Infection, Immunization, Nutrition, Family Planning, Safe Delivery, and more.

In establishing HOPE's Mothers' Clubs, these women are provided with the health education that they need to understand how to best provide for their children and themselves. Women are vital in spreading knowledge to their friends, family and community members, so the more women we educate, the more lives will be saved. We are providing essential information such as how to care for your baby who is suffering from Diarrhea to prevent child mortality. Simple but so vital to saving lives.

We are educating 3, 200 women members of out Mothers' Clubs. In the long-term, women will be able to care for their families in a greater capacity. Preventive healthcare will be encouraged and utilized so that patients' conditions do not become too complicated or too far progressed to be treated. These women will not have to bear the economic pressures of paying immense amounts of money for their family's health care as they will be caring for them themselves as well as preventing sickness.
