Greetings from Gulu,
I am just back from a whirlwind, seven-day trip to Gulu. It was a quick, but very productive trip and it was wonderful to see our Ugandan Director, Gladies Orombie, and our Artisans again. So many things have changed in the two years since my last visit. Gulu no longer looks like the town I visited for the first time in 2013!
We have relocated our office and workspace to a lovely area where several nonprofit organizations have workspaces. We now have separate office and workroom space, and our artisans receive a hot, nutritious lunch each day! In addition, the grounds are beautiful, and large meeting rooms are also available for team training. It is a perfect location.
Our biggest news from this trip is that The Ribe Project is now in a position to begin offering microfinance loans to our artisans! This is HUGE news and has been one of our long-term goals since our beginning. By creating opportunities for these women to follow their passions, we will begin to truly create change in this community. Each woman has written a detailed business plan for their proposed venture, which we have reviewed. In December, we hope to begin distributing loan monies. We are all very excited about reaching this very important leap forward for our organization!
Please watch for opportunities, coming soon, to help fund these life-changing loans. You can truly change a life!
Apwoyo,
Brett Krieble
