Greetings from Gulu,
We have a few things to report since our last newsletter!
First, we are now a fully registered Community Based Organization in Gulu City! For those unfamiliar with the process, this probably does not sound like much but let me assure you that this is a big deal! Thanks to Gladies Orombie, our amazing director in Gulu, mountains of paperwork, fees, and interviews have all taken place. We were approved with flying colors! This registration will allow us to partner with other CBO's in the local community if we something we feel would be a good match.
Secondly, as I mentioned in our last newsletter, our school group at University High School of Indiana, raised $1200 to pay school fees for the children of our artisans! Vouchers for these fees were distributed to families during an event to celebrate this milestone! Actual fees will be paid directly to the schools to ensure deadlines are not missed. I am including a photo from this happy day. My heart is full knowing that we are not only assisting women in our community but also making sure the next generation has greater opportunities.
As always, we cannot exist without your help. We are always in need of donations to keep everything running. People truly do depend on these jobs since unemployment in the area is widespread. We hope you will consider becoming a monthly donor so that we can continue to make a difference!
With gratitude,
Brett
