Meet Our First Graduates!

By Brett Krieble | President/CEO

Our first class in training.
Our first class in training.

Hello from Gulu, Uganda!

SO much has changed since we last checked in with our amazing donors. In July, we welcomed a wonderful teacher, Gladies, to begin our first vocational training program. Gladies has been a blessing to our organization. Her skills in bead making, her take-charge attitude, and her rapport with our beneficiaries have all contributed to the success of this first cohort.

Our first class consisted of only three beneficiaries, along with Gladies as the main trainer and her assistant. It was necessary to keep our class small due to local Covid restrictions on gathering size. On August 1, Concy,  Lily, and Adreen joined our Ribe family as our first group of beneficiaries!  Each of these women came to us from very vulnerable circumstances and we are happy that we are able to provide them with an opportunity such as this.  They have worked incredibly hard and have learned their craft well, producing some absolutely stunning jewelry that you will be seeing very soon! We even had some added excitement when Adreen delivered her child during the last week of training. Our first Ribe baby!

The first Ribe Project graduation ceremony was quite the celebration. The graduates received certificates of completion presented in front of their families and distinguished guests (socially distanced of course). Afterward, a celebratory meal was enjoyed by all. We will be sharing more from this festive event very soon! Our three graduates are now employed at a fair wage by The Ribe Project, producing unique bead jewelry. Our search for our next beneficiaries will begin soon.

Without your donations, none of this could happen. You are changing the lives of women and children with your generosity. On behalf of all of us here at The Ribe Project, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
