The new year indeed brought new challenges as we prepared ourselves to combat the Omicron wave. Thanks to the support pouring in from our wonderful donors world-wide, we thrived and also witnessed a few remarkable stories of grit and determination.
The highlights of these two months once again have been the significant number of rescues and the transformational stories that we were presented with. The stories of Pearl and Bob stand testimony to the incredible grit and tenacity with which rescue animals face adversity and emerge stronger. We had a few heart-warming adoptions, one of which is that of Benji who was rescued with a rectal prolapse, now with his happy family after a successful corrective surgery.
Pearl was lying on the roadside with harsh sunlight on her, unable to move or rest due to severe pain and dehydration. The wound was so severe that her flesh was gruellingly smashed and the bones were visible. Thankfully, we were able to rescue her in time. Currently, Pearl is recovering well with regular wound dressing along with proper medication care and nutritious food.
Bob was in a miserable condition with a tumor on his leg when he was rescued—weak, dehydrated, and unable to eat, he was lying helplessly in a drainage canal. He did not hold much hope for survival. Thankfully, the tumor hadn't spread to other parts of his body; but unfortunately, the blood test results revealed that he was severly anemic and only an immediate blood transfusion could save his life. The blood transfusion was carried out without any delay and we were overjoyed to see the old fellow's blood count improve. As it was necessary to remove a significant amount of skin along with the tumor from the affected portion, flap surgery—a type of plastic surgery which uses tissues from another part of the body to close an open wound was performed and we are overjoyed to report that dear old Bob has survived against all odds.
Ayaan and Pearly are again two adorable rescues that fate brought together. Both suffering proptosis of the eye due to accidents were rescued separately, but become best buddies at the shelter after they recovered from their respective surgeries. Now, these two with their permanent winks are at a foster home, and are eagerly awaiting their forever home together!
Rescues and rehabilitation like these are testimony of your unstinting support. Your $20 donation covers the cost of a spay/neuter surgery and vaccination of one rescue pet that can make all the difference in his/her life. No amount is too small when it comes to making a difference to precious lives. Our deep appreciation and heartfelt gratitude to your sustained commitment to the cause.
