Implementing Psychological support, as a vital component in education
Our Foundation has hired two professional phycologists and built a new dedicated office, to complement the Educational Programs .
The role of psychological support in motivating students and parents, particularly in this rural community, is a multifaceted and deeply impactful one. In these settings, where educational and socioeconomic challenges can be more pronounced, psychological support becomes not just a tool for personal well-being but a vital component in the pursuit of educational and communal growth.
The role of our experts is :
- understanding and addressing Unique Challenges: Rural communities, like the one we serve, at DON DIEGO, face unique socio-economic challenges, including limited access to resources, isolation, and sometimes a lack of educational opportunities. A psychological support system helps in understanding these specific challenges and addressing them in a way that is sensitive to the community’s needs. In this context, psychological support becomes a part of the lifeblood of education in these communities.
- Building Resilience and Coping Mechanisms: Students face various stressors, including those related to poverty, family responsibilities, and limited career opportunities. Psychological support can help build resilience against these stressors. By learning coping mechanisms, students and their families can better navigate the challenges they face, leading to a more robust and engaged community.
-Enhancing Educational Engagement and Motivation: Psychological support can help students develop a stronger sense of belonging and purpose, which is crucial for motivation. Engaged and motivated students are more likely to participate actively in their education, leading to better academic outcomes and a more vibrant educational environment.
- Parental Involvement and Empowerment: Our team has weekly sessions with parent in the community, since the involvement of parents in education can significantly impact a child's academic success. Initially we found some reluctance in the adults to participate , now they are more confident to be in group meetings to address common issues, and to ask for individual therapies.
. By addressing mental health and educational challenges collectively, a sense of unity and shared purpose is fostered, which is vital for the community's overall development. We appreciate the continuous support of our donors, through GLOBAL GIVING, that help FUNDACIÓN COMUNITARIA DON DIEGO to continue expanding with capital investments, like this new office, and also in covering the payment for professionals . We provide all these services free to the community.
