Providing medical services in marginalized areas

During these last five months, the Mobile Medical Unit of Un Buen Grupo de Amigos, A.C. toured states of Puebla, Tlaxcala and Morelos. The Mobile Medical Unit offered health services of first and second level of medical care, dental interventions, dental prostheses, electrocardiography, ultrasonography, physical rehabilitation, dental prostheses, as well as the delivery of complete treatments (medications) to patients attended and orthoses as wheelchairs, to those who requested it and justified the use of them.

The selection and programming of locations was carried out according to recent reports of the National Council for the Evaluation of Social Development Policy (CONEVAL) in localities whose poverty index is high.

The Foundation provided "Humanitarian Aid in the area of Health" to those who were part of the Caravan of Central American Migrants, who on their way through the City of Puebla, needed health services, with quality and in a complete state (with medication), in a timely and free way,

The Foundation carried out an intense humanitarian work with its own team of doctors, dentists, nurses and health promoters. We continue to serve people in indigenous populations, such as Mrs. Celia, from the Barrio de San Nicolás Coatepec, in the Nahuatl indigenous language, she mentions us "Thank you very much for putting yourself in our shoes and supporting us with doctors in our dialect, who understand our roots and take care of our teeth and our health. During these last two months, the mobile medical units moved to the states of Oaxaca, Chiapas, Morelos and Puebla, where we gave medical services in about 30 municipalities and 50 localities. Several of these municipalities continue to suffer the effects of the September earthquakes, and the medical assistance they can access is nil or very expensive, hence the importance of offering them the opportunity to receive complete and free high quality medical services, including medicines.

 As part of the standard of the "Un Buen Grupo de Amigos A.C." Foundation, we met 100% of the demand for services and medicines. All medical services comply with the highest standard in health services. Given the diversity of the population we attended, we treated patients in their native dialect, such as Mixe Alto, Mixe Bajo, Zapoteco and Huave.

There were 332 preventive health workshops, including a reinforcement of actions to prevent Zika. Also, wheelchairs, canes, walkers and other orthoses were delivered to the people who really needed it. With the help of the Secretary of National Defense and the Navy, we were able to spend the night in high-risk communities, allowing us to stay more days in various locations.

It was very satisfying to support babies, children, men, women and the elderly population. In this way, we support them to pursue their dreams without a health issue preventing them from achieving them. As mentioned by Mrs. Remedio Cruz Hernández, from the municipality of Tehuitzingo, Puebla "You changed my life, now I have my teeth well, I can eat. The economy is not enough and you give us health services with very qualified and kind doctors and you also give us free medicines.
