Provide 50,000 health services in Mexico

2020 has proven to be a year full of changes, as we are adjusting to life during pandemic, here in UBGA we have mainly focused on finding ways to help relief the needs of our community facing COVID-19.

During June and July, we continued our “Support Hospital Staff” campaign, which had the purpose of collecting medical and protection equipment and sanitary material. With these donations our staff put together kits of personal protective equipment, and delivered them to the health institutions that function as COVID-19 intervention centers in Puebla, to help protect every person exposed to contagion.

Two of our Mobile Medical Units continue to be lent to hospitals in Puebla that have been assigned as COVID-19 intervention centers, with this we aim to enable the medical staff to extend their capacity of performing triage safely thus increasing their ability to provide medical care for patients infected with covid-19. The two hospitals benefiting from this action are the Cholula General Hospital and the Hospital of Traumatology and Orthopedics of Puebla, both located in the outskirts of the city and belong to the Ministry of Health.

We aim to continue helping the population in need in any matter we can, and to go back to the communities with health services as soon as it is safe again, that is our passion and our motor. As the whole world is changed by this pandemic, we thank you more than ever for your generosity in this time of need.

First of all, we hope you and your family are well and safe.

Here in Un Buen Grupo De Amigos, as everywhere with this new pandemic, we had to make some changes and adjustments on our plans and we would like to share them with you.

Our Medical Care Days Program ran through the months of January and February, taking health services as well orthoses as wheelchairs, walking sticks and walkers, to those who requested it and justified the use of them, to the communities of Jolalpan (January 18^th and 19^th) and Tehuitzingo (February 8 ^th and 9 ^th). However, the outbreak of COVID-19 in Mexico was confirmed in the last days of February, since that date the number of cases has continued to increase and as a consequence, we couldn’t continue carrying out the Free Medical Care Days for the security of our staff, volunteers and the communities. With this, just as after the massive earthquake in 2017 we are in new territory, and just as then we decided to help our community.

Many hospitals in Mexico have been affected by the lack of medical equipment, in order to help hospital personnel avoid contagion and to guarantee the supply of personal protective equipment despite the high demand in the market, we launched the “Support Hospital Sttaf” campaign, opening the UBGA Collection Center in our facilities and enabling our web site with the purpose to collect medical and protection equipment. With these donations our staff put together kits of personal protective equipment and sanitary material, and delivered the to the health institutions that function as COVID-19 intervention centers in Puebla, to help protect every person exposed to contagion.
