Empowering Caregivers, Empowering Communities

For many, 2022, marked the possibility of new beginnings and it’s no different when it comes to our Early Childhood Development (ECD) Project. Since Education Africa began offering ECD skills over a decade ago, we have trained a total of 274 educators in ECD and an additional 164 educators in our nationally accredited training programme. The ECD programme focuses on training quality ECD practitioners to fill the gap in South Africa's foundational learning landscape - particularly in under-resourced communities. This year we began the process of  finding the next group of ECD practitioners and after a gruelling interviewing process, we are proud to say we are currently training 113 new students who will go on to empower their communities.

In the spirit of continued empowerment, Education Africa also recently launched an ECD Trainer Intern programme designed to take those very same students and provide them with the skills to become ECD Trainers, and complete their SAQA NQF Level 5 training as well as other notable qualifications. This year we welcomed 5 new interns to our programme who have been a pleasure to work with. Their positive attitudes and excellent work-ethic makes working side-by-side with our ECD Trainers -  who have begun training our 2022-2023 NQF Level 4 cohort - a breeze.

Quality foundational education is essential if South Africa's children are to be prepared for a meaningful, and successful, learning experience later in life. Unfortunately, for many young children around South Africa, this is precisely what they will miss out on due to poorly trained teachers and a lack of resources (among other things). Education Africa's ECD team is on a mission to change that with a programme designed to address the realities facing South Africa's ECD landscape as well as overcome them.

Thank you for your ongoing generous support, Education Africa is eternally grateful. If you would like to partner with us or offer any type of support, please get in touch or use the GlobalGiving platform.
