At the end of 2021, our amazing Early Childhood Development (ECD) team won the Ntataise Championship trophy for their work in ECD. The team also celebrated the graduation of their ECD teachers and finalised the quality insurance and assurance part of our training. Having a strict moderation protocol is essential to ensuring that not only are we providing quality education to those training in our ECD programme but that we are setting up those future teachers to be able to provide quality education in their own right.
Whilst wrapping up the final administrative details on the 2020 cohort, we are so excited to be interviewing and processing the 2022 candidates for the ECD programme. Once the candidates are selected, a new cohort of future ECD teachers will undertake the 18 months, South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA), and Ntataise approved training.
Watch this space for more updates on the journey of the 2022 ECD cohort! We are so looking forward to welcoming some new faces into a programme renowned for its challenging, fun, and empowering process. The ECD programme focuses on training quality ECD practitioners to fill the gap in South Africa's foundational learning landscape - particularly in under-resourced communities.
Quality foundational education is essential if South Africa's children are to be prepared for a meaningful, and successful, learning experience later in life. Unfortunately, for many young children around South Africa, this is precisely what they will miss out on due to poorly trained teachers and a lack of resources (among other things). Education Africa's ECD team is on a mission to change that with a programme designed to address the realities facing South Africa's ECD landscape as well as overcome them. We focus on training teachers able to create educational resources from almost anything, to change the nature of education available to children in under-resourced communities, and find ways to empower not just themselves but the people around them.
Thank you for your ongoing generous support, Education Africa is eternally grateful. If you would like to partner with us as we gear up to train the 2022 cohort, please get in touch or use the GlobalGiving platform.
