The beginning of this school year has represented a significant challenge, both academically and emotionally, for millions of students around the world.

In our organization, Peraj, we adapted our educational model to support our students in a virtual manner. Due to the situation of the world, we were able to make an open call to our mentors in their respective Universities in order for them to help us keep our program going in the confinement situation.

Our principal concern was that the response of the mentors to help in our organization was going to be less than in past years due to the global pandemic that the world is facing. As always, our mentors exceeded our expectations. Young university students responded exceptionally and because of them our program is still going nowadays. Today we have 1,320 registered mentors, willing to support children that study from home.

We are very proud to share this great news. Our mentors have always been an example of solidarity, perseverance, success, and empathy for each of the mentees with whom they share experiences and help them grow during their Peraj experience. Our mentors are an amazing example of leaders of society who are willing to make a difference in the world in order for all to have a better future. No matter how hard the situation is, our mentors have never let us down. They are a global example of leaders motivated by their willingness to help others.

Dear donors; The pandemic changed our program as it did with our whole lives.

Schools and Universities closed since the very beginning and mentors and mentees stopped attending the program at their campi. However, some of the matches were able to keep on doing activities and having contact through the internet, we know at least half of the matches continued in contact and some were creative enough to do activities on WhatsApp.

Sadly, not all of the matches have access to the internet whenever they want, most of them need to borrow a device to contact their mentor and some don't have internet access at home. But still, the program continued in many places.

We are now getting ready for the next school year, we are preparing some updates so we can continue with the program in the Universities and schools once they reopen. We know how important our program is for vulnerable kids and we are doing our best to find the best way to reorganize and improve our program so the matches can be in contact even thou they are not personally together.

This pandemic changed us all, but it also made us stronger and more united.
