Earthquakes and volcanic activity in the Afar region of Ethiopia have destroyed homes, roads and infrastructure, displacing several thousand people and leaving them more vulnerable to an ongoing cholera outbreak.
We are reaching out to you with an urgent message from our team in Ethiopia at this critical time.
While global corporate media has largely ignored this disaster, communities in northeast Ethiopia have experienced over 50 earthquakes in recent months causing extensive damage to homes, health centres, schools, roads, farmland and critical infrastructure. Crops and livestock have been lost and over 50,000 people have been forced to seek temporary shelter.
We are working with community members, public officials, health workers and other organisations to mobilize and deploy emergency teams to provide immediate relief, including medical assistance, nutrition support, and shelter.
Please give whatever you can today to support the recovery effort and help keep people safe and healthy: https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/emergency-response-to-earthquakes-in-ethiopia/
