After several years of drought wreaking havoc across much of eastern Africa, rains have finally returned. Unfortunately, these rains have not proven to be the godsend that many people expected, with the baked earth unable to absorb the water quickly enough.
Now, following heavy rainfall across the region, floods are devastating communities and spreading disease. Hundreds of thousands of people are faced with flooded homes, damaged roads, inaccessible settlements, dead livestock, ruined crops, lack of food and contaminated water sources.
We are working with communities in Ethiopia and Kenya at this critical time to ensure that families can access vital supplies and health workers can reach those in need.
Please give whatever you can to our latest appeal and help communities dealing with this latest emergency: https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/emergency-response-to-floods-in-ethiopia-and-kenya/
