After building three SOLE Labs (Boca de Camarones, El Tambo and Dominguillo), we said goodbye to 2024 with a launch event for The Library of the Future, an interface where another internet is possible.
Such an experience deserved to be told to the world and so we did on December 5 in Bogotá. With open arms and trying to return the attention and good treatment that they always give us in their communities, we welcomed the Ambassadors and SOLE Laberos: Isela and Elainer from Boca de Camarones; Alejandra and Livia from El Tambo and Lucho and Nancy from Dominguillo. For Isela and Lucho it was the first time they got on a plane, the first time in Bogotá and for all of them, the first time they would see their SOLE Labs on the screen.
In what was a magical moment, our SOLE Laberos prepared an experience to present the customs and traditions of their territories, connected with their communities that were in the SOLE Labs. It was incredible! Meanwhile, Isela and Elainer told us about the Wayúu culture, from the SOLE Lab in Boca de Camarones, Marcelo and all the children presented their traditional dance. Alejandra and Livia connected us with the SOLE Lab in El Tambo and from there, the youth circle, the women's circle and the community of Barrio Obrero, brought us closer to their culture by presenting their products and playing musical instruments. To close with a final flourish, Lucho and Nancy connected us with all the flavor and joy that the people of Dominguillo have. They showed us their SOLE Lab decorated with photos while the entire community greeted us and, suddenly, they made us dance. We all danced, they from there and those of us who were in Bogotá, also ended up dancing fuga.
How can we not talk about another internet when the Library of the Future uses digital technologies to connect knowledge, experiences and stories that are creating other ways of living together using digital technologies? How can we not talk about another Internet if children and adults can sit in the same space to solve Big Questions in a group? How can we not talk about another Internet if we are creating all this together?
