Human Trafficking Case Concludes in Chiang Rai for 31 survivors! 14 offenders were sentenced to 257 years jail time!
On December 8th, the Chiang Rai Provincial Court has delivered its verdict on one of the most significant human trafficking cases in recent history. The case, involving 14 offenders, centeres around serious charges of sexual offenses (online exploitation form), including trafficking 31 survivors.
After extensive deliberations and 14 comprehensive hearings, the court found all defendants guilty. This is a HUGE win and it reflects the heinous nature of their crimes. Our team is grateful to be a part of making sure all 31 survivors get the justice they deserve. It's a reminder for us all of the ongoing global battle against human trafficking and the importance of multi-disciplinary cooperation in addressing these crimes.
Thank you all for continuing to support the HUG Project. Eventhough we got lawyer fee sponsored by one of our partner's organizations. With your support, our social workers were able to travel with our lawyer to neighbouring country to get parents consent for the child victims who are not Thai national so that we can be co-plaintiff of the case.
