Dear friend!
When the Pandemic hit the Osa Peninsula, we decided to start helping those that needed it the most. And I was astonished about the support we received -from you and people like you- to bring food to those most vulnerable. So, we began to find many people in need. There were all these families whose income suddenly disappeared, and there were those who depended on the good heart of others to survive. Sometimes it was their children, their younger siblings, or their neighbors.
Thanks to your support and other kind and generous people like you, we have been able to bring food to the most vulnerable people in Drake Bay since the Pandemic started. We have delivered food 18 times since the beginning of the Pandemic for a total of 900 packages.
The money is dwindling, but with the world going back to some kind of normal and jobs coming back to Drake Bay, we decided to reduce the number of people we bring food to, starting December, since it is the beginning of the high season.
We have decided this because we have detected that some older people live in very isolated places. They have been neglected by their families for the longest time, even before the Pandemic. Some of the people on our list died during the Pandemic of illness that could have been preventable had somebody been there for them. So we will continue to focus our efforts on serving them, taking them to the hospital, and providing them with food and emotional support.
Thanks to your support, we are making a dent in the quality of the lives of so many senior citizens in need. Some of these folks have expressed their gratitude by saying “I didn’t know what meal next day would come from and then I saw your car outside my house, like a miracle.”
Thank you for your trust in our organization. Your donation shows your faith in our work. Your continued support allows us to plan and be more impactful in our communities. So, from the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you for having our back and helping us be that miracle, that eases the pain of so many.
