Jetu sends YOU love and gratitude!

By Daniele Reisbig | Development Coordinator

Jetu
Jetu

Have we told YOU lately how amazing YOU are?

YOU are saving lives for grandmothers like Jetu!

Jetu is a 53-year-old grandmother raising her two grandchildren, a 16-year-old boy and an 8-year-old girl. Like many families in Uganda, Jetu and her grandchildren are coping with the loss of the children's parents because of HIV/AIDS. Jetu never expected that she would be raising her grandchildren. In Ugandan culture, as parents grow older and can no longer work, their children provide for them. If needed, children will provide housing, food, care for their elder’s needs

So, when Jetu's kitchen began to fall apart, she had nowhere to turn.

In Uganda, families cook their food in a building separate from the one they sleep in. The fire used for cooking creates a lot of smoke that can be dangerous and unhealthy. Jetu could not prepare food for her grandchildren in their kitchen because she was afraid it would collapse on her.

Because of YOU, Jetu has a new, smokeless kitchen. She no longer has to worry that the smoke from cooking will harm her or her grandchildren.

THANK YOU!

Jetu and her grandchildren will be healthier and safer because YOU chose to give them life-saving support!

She will always think of YOU and the wonderful gift YOU have given her.

There is still more work to do and we need YOUR help to do it!

We work with over 7,005 grandmothers and many of them are in grave need of new homes, kitchens, and pit latrines.

Many want to start new businesses but have no way to get a loan.

Many need vocational training and support to help them reenter the workforce.

YOU can help all of these grandmothers achieve their dreams.

Global Giving is having a Bonus Day!

Global Giving will match your gift 50%!

July 16th
