One Microfinance Loan Changed Evas Life

Evas is quite the entrepreneur in the small village she’s from. She runs two businesses while raising her three grandchildren Mariacoleta 8 years old, Editah 8 years old, and David 7 years old.  Evas didn’t always have the means needed to raise her grandchildren and thought that she would never be able to give her family a good life, then YOU came to her rescue. Your support makes microfinance loans possible for grandmothers like Evas who have taken up child rearing again later in life.

The Nyaka Grandmother Group that Evas is part of gave her a loan to start her own coffee business. She borrowed funds to purchase coffee beans, dry them, and then sell them. Coffee sales were low due to the drought and the reduced amount of beans, but she was still able to make a profit. Evas was able to pay the school fees for her grandchildren, provide them with shelter, give them medical care and buy scholastic materials that are essential for their education. She was also able to repay her loan and save enough money to start a second business rearing goats.

Evas has always been interested in goat rearing but was never able to save enough money to buy a goat of her own. Her father use to sell goats so she knows how to take care of them and how to sell one for a profit. The goat she purchased even had two kids! Evas feels lucky to have made enough profit to purchase the goat and now have two kids as well.  She is raising the goats and plans to sell them when they are mature enough. Evas says that her lifestyle has changed for the better because of the microfinance loan she received and that YOU are the reason why she smiles now!

Thank you for supporting your grandmothers in Uganda. YOU change lives with your support!
