By Ahmed Raza | Project Leader Case no. 2 respiratory distr
On the rainy days of July, an adorable baby boy was brought to our NICU with a delayed cry and had developed Sepsis (a life-threatening medical emergency) and Respiratory Distress Syndrome when the poor little thing was only one day older. Though this little angel weighed only 2.4 kgs and had no idea what was happening around him, he was still determined to fight this horrific condition. He spent the next ten days of his life on the vent in critical care, where his condition deteriorated multiple times.
Finally, in the month of Independence (August), our little warrior beat all the infectious beasts in his body. After getting an 18-day long treatment, the little munchkin was vitally stable off oxygen and was discharged with follow-up advice.

Over 65% of total neonatal deaths occurring globally belong to just 10 countries and Pakistan ranks third among Ten. With the help of recent advancements and trained personnel, we are working to bring this stat down.
Preterm birth is the leading cause of death. Worldwide, more than one in ten babies, an estimated 15 million, are born preterm every year together with sick and low birth weight children. These newborns require specialized care to prevent mortality.
To work in a NICU, one must be professionally competent and have a heart filled with compassion, empathy and kindness, which best describes the Team Al-Mustafa NICU. Their tireless efforts and your generous support make it possible for poor parents to hold their babies in loving arms again.
