Yes, 28 days on a ventilator and still counting.
Dear donors, I hope you are doing well. We always like to share with you the good news from the NICU, but today, we need your prayers and support for our little champ, who had been on the ventilator for 28 days and is still under treatment.
There had been 331 total births at Al-Mustafa Hospital in the past four months. All the babies delivered in our hospital are kept under observation for 1 to 2 hours in NICU. After a complete checkup of babies by a Consultant Paediatrician, the healthy ones are handed over to their parents.
We received 158 admissions at Al-Mustafa NICU in the past quarter, out of which 101 were outdoor admissions. The majority of the babies admitted are preterm; having gestational life of fewer than 34 Weeks, with low birth weight; less than 1500g, babies having respiratory distress, babies with sepsis, and those with HIE (Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy.

We also offer the services of other conditions that require neonatology consultation like severe hyperbilirubinemia, infant of diabetic mothers, severe intrauterine growth restriction, severe hypoxia, meningitis, respiratory distress with the treatment of ventilator needed, birth weight between 1000g to 2000g and gestational age between 32 and 36 weeks, etc. Our mortality rate is significantly less than other healthcare setups in the city.
We will keep posting new updates in the coming months.
