Our Horses Continue to Work Hard During COVID-19

By David Plath | Development Director

Sugar Says Farewell.
Sugar Says Farewell.

Dear Friend of Equine-Assisted Therapies of South Florida,

This week marks the end of our 10-week Spring session. We continue to take extra precautions due to the challenges of COVID-19 to ensure the safety of our horses, participants, volunteers, and staff. We are currently running at 75% capacity, mostly due to three ESE school groups that are unable to attend because of travel restrictions outside of school.

Our eleven horses are doing well thanks to the exemplary care they receive and the support of donors like you. They recently received a visit from the dentist. Proper dental care can positively impact our herd's digestive health. To date, this campaign has raised $2,725, enough to provide two visits from the dentist for the entire herd.

We are bidding farewell to one of our horses at the end of the month. Sugar, our beloved 21-year-old Arabian/Quarter Horse will be going into retirement and moving away. She will be reuniting with her owner in Georgia. We can’t say enough about the many hours of service she has provided our participants since 2014. We will miss her sweet disposition, but we know she will enjoy her time at her new stable. With Sugar’s departure, we are on the lookout for a new herd member that has a great personality, loves people, and is solid at the walk, trot, and canter.

If you would like to continue supporting our herd or heroes, I ask you to consider a monthly donation that provide hay and grain throughout the year.

Our deepest thanks for your generosity,

David Plath
