After 18 years of working around the world with traumatized communities, AWB has learned that it matters more than ever to "show up" and do whatever we can do to the best of our ability. No matter what, with the help of many, we continue to work to make the world a better place for all people.
We are continually in awe of the amazing people who bring their dedication and creativity to this work in the EU to support Ukrainian refugees. Below are updates from Greece, the Netherlands and Poland.
AWB Greece (Alma) provides mobile clinic services around Athens to support Ukrainian refugees and those from other countries as well, with both individual and group treatments using multiple integrative therapies. This September, we are planning an international training in Greece to provide supplemental training to those who are already actively doing the work as well as training more healthcare practitioners to reach even more in need.
In February, in addition to having 5 teams doing weekly clinics, AWB Netherlands created a women's clinic on a cruiser that is moored in Amsterdam, to provide care to Ukrainian refugees (newcomers) those who do not feel comfortable or are not able to expose their heads in mixed company. In the words of one of their team leaders, "A clinic for women, run by women, creating a safe space using community acupuncture...armed with a deep belief in the healing power of acupuncture, enthusiasm, positivity and widely available smiles."
In Poland, the work has been expanded to include Ukrainian refugee hostels. Due to funding constraints, clinics have been reduced to one to two per month.
Again, we are continually amazed at the dedication and creativity of our teams doing this work around the world.
AWB cannot do this work without YOUR financial support and generosity. If you are able, please give your financial support and help bring more light into the darkness by donating today.
