It has been a very busy 3 months. Thanks to all of you, we raised over $3000 for Giving Tuesday, and every donation makes a difference in the lives of these precious animals. Thirteen dogs are either being treated or have completed treatment for heartworms because of you. The treatment is expensive, but is necessary to save their lives and give them the opportunity to enjoy a new life with a loving family. Speaking of loving families, we have had a total of 137 adoptions since mid-September. So many wonderful people have adopted from us, and we are grateful to every family that gave one of our sweet babies a home of their own. One dog in particular, Sky, is now part of a family in Boston living large in a penthouse with her own butler. Her parents are part of the Red Sox family. We are so glad for Sky and her wonderful new parents. Hundreds of cats and dogs have made our shelter their home in the last few months and although most have storybook endings, some do not. We were saddened that a mother dog and her puppies came in with parvo. Our veterinarian did his best, but unfortunately the family had waited too long before reaching out to us and was not able to save them. We were able to help with a litter of 7 puppies that were thrown out in a plastic tub on the side of the road like someone’s trash. A nice man working on the power lines found them and brought them to us. They are doing great and will soon be out of quarantine and able to be adopted to loving families. We also took in a litter of 5 puppies because their owner was evicted from her home. We also had a blind elderly dog come into the shelter. After 3 months in his foster home, he has been adopted and will be leaving soon for his new home. A very special family that has experience with elderly dogs wants to give him a loving home for whatever time he has left. We are truly grateful for the opportunity he is being given. Sweet Champ, who was dumped at our gate because his owners got a new puppy, is almost finished with his heartworm treatment, and even better, he is adopted and will be heading to his new home in early February. Each animal comes to us with their own story of where life took a bad turn, and we do our very best to give each one the happy ending they deserve. Your support makes this possible. From all of our sweet furbabies, and the humans that care for them, Thank you!
