Dear Friends of Empowered to Educate,
It has been a truly eventful and exciting few months! Below are some highlights we wanted to share. Thanks as ever for your support!
Cohort 2 Launched! Empowered to Educate successfully launched the second cohort of fellows in Ghana. They come from six (6) of the 16 regions: Greater Accra, Central, Volta, Northern, Upper East and Eastern Regions. The ten (10) fellows for cohort two were nominated and selected through the organization’s trusted partners, advisors, mentors, and alumnae. Cohort two Fellows stood out among their peers with initiatives they led. These included vocational skills development for young women, girls’ empowerment, mentorship, STEM, primary education and literacy. We invite you to welcome this second cohort of Fellows and are grateful for your support!
Orientation: The 2-year fellowship kickstarted with a 1.5 day in-person orientation in Accra, September 20 – 22, 2022. Fellows took a deep dive into key programmatic areas and expectations for the 2 years. In addition to defining goals for their initiatives and professional development, fellows bonded through a variety of activities including “Paint your Leadership” (insert photo).
Leadership training: In October the Fellows commenced their bi-monthly zoom training sessions. Key focus areas were connecting with alumnae to share on the ground experiences of being in the Fellowship, completing the accountability partnership pairings, discussing and developing Theories of Change and designing impact measures.
A new innovation! Pondering the question “What does success look like for Empowered to Educate,?” we designed and implemented a Baseline Leadership Survey which the Fellows took at the commencement of the Fellowship. We hope to measure up to their expectations of the leadership changes they would like to experience!
As always, we are deeply grateful for your interest and support in our work!
Kind regards,
The Empowered to Educate Team
