March 2022 Empowered to Educate Report

By Constance Kane | Executive Director

Thanks to those of you who are helping us launch our second class of Fellows! We couldn’t do it without you!

The process has begun…A call for Nominations has gone out to our local partners in Ghana. And our current Fellows are promoting the program. Here is what Fati had to say about her experience:

"I believe that the Fellowship program acts as a great platform for educators like me to advance our leadership skills and create a global impact on the education sector. Through the mentoring sessions, my professional network is growing day in and day out, and I get the opportunity to interact with more experienced people. I have the opportunity to meet like minds, and that has widened my understanding and built up my potential as a leader in education."

If the second cohort is anything like our current group, grass roots innovations will continue to happen. Take International Women’s Day this year. Applications for small IWD grants doubled, with eight of the ten Fellows receiving support. Challenged by the theme “#break the bias” their programs supported the launch of girls’ STEM clubs, provided vocational trainings to marginalized girl students, and created the first library in an under-resourced community.

Our new class of Fellows will benefit from the wisdom and experience of our current Fellows. We are creating the Empowered to Educate Alumae Network! This will actively support our alums and engage them as role models and buddies for Fellows for years to come.

So, once again, thank you for donation to launch the second cohort of Fellows. We remain deeply grateful for your interest and your support!

Kind regards,

The Empowered to Educate Team
